The Power of light

1/13/2023

I am applying to this show at the Frankfort Arts Association. All of my work plays with light, but these two fit the theme the best.

Deadline for Entries: February 13, 2023
14 Hickory Street Unit 14B
Frankfort, IL 60423
The power of light can be witnessed through dramatic lighting, the early rays of dawn, beams of sun breaking through clouds, and glorious sunsets. How does your artwork represent the power of light?

Statements: ‘Juicy Sunrise’ is a wistful piece about the promise of fusion energy and the joy each advance in its development gives me. Fusion will ignite the the clean energy forces that power the sun for our use. The sculpture consists of a disco ball that's been embellished with an exuberant bead mosaic pattern. When lit correctly, it appears to have a glowing center in the middle like the NIF’s fusion reactor at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory.

'Goldilocks Panopticon' is a wall sculpture that celebrates the Sun, the main source of of the light and energy that powers life on Earth.

   Uh-oh-- "Work that requires special installation or instructions will NOT be accepted." Reader, the show accepts every media except video and film, so I don't know what they are going to do for installation art pieces. Most sculpture is somewhat challenging to display.

Anyway, it is in the jurors hands now. Jurors are people with their own tastes, skill levels, pet media and their own ideas for what kind of show they want they want to build.

So, I started editing some of my portfolio archive photos in Lightroom. After a couple of days of tutorials and videos, they are a hair better. I am still learning the program. I am trying to create a few good-enough pictures to post to Behance and hopefully make some connections there. The ultimate goal is to connect with architects.
