GenderPop

Picture
This piece is for everyone who is feeling girly.

It's a piece of pop art from a modified well-known fashion doll logo. Warhol grew up with soup; my childhood was full of Fashion Doll. Fashion Doll was an avatar of my dreams of teenage romance, high status, and glamor. I got over it, but I welcome you to put GenderPop on whenever you're feeling fabulous.

I made this piece to enter for Inspired by Warhol show at the Elmhurst Artists' Guild's Summer 2023. There is a chance it might not be accepted. This design is more family friendly than my original idea and I give it better odds.

ArtChicago surprised--having mostly art people could stand to live or work with. No dead things this year. Enjoyable. Not crowded.

After reading Hockney book on art & optics, then reading "Forger's Spell," it's plausible that the optics theory could help spot forgeries.

Last night was the reception for "Beneath the Surface" at TLD Design Center in Westmont, IL. I had the chance to meet and chat with Joann Murdock and Mary Dillon and the Design Center's director, Tammy Deck. The show continues through April 1. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 11 to 6 pm.

TLD Design Center offers classes and work space for fiber artists and other artisans. They even offer metal smithing, which I will enroll my youngest in next Fall.

I started a new glacier mosaic on 36 x 36 convex mirror. This one is based on the White Glacier on a Canadian island in the arctic. It's way up there.
